Myranda & David Part 1 l Saskatoon Wedding Photography

Secrets and more secrets. I thought I was going to explode!

Myranda and David both had surprises planned for each other and I was lucky enough to be a part of both of them. The week before the wedding I was sneaking around for Myranda to get her gift all ready for him. I met with David in secret a few weeks earlier to help put together his surprise. His timing was a bit off and she started to get a bit suspicious so I got a quick email that night:

“You and I saw each other at Wal Mart tonight. We talked about the wedding and stuff.”

The next day I saw her and sure enough she brought it up.

“Oh yeah,” I nervously said. “We ran into each other at Wal Mart and just talked about the wedding and stuff.” I was terrified that she would ask what he was buying.

It all turned out though of course and no one was the wiser. Myranda’s gift went off without a hitch and David surprised her with a beautiful song at the end of the ceremony. His whole family got into the act and welcomed her into their family in a wonderful way.

The whole day was full of stories like this and each one showed what great people they really are. The one I’ll probably remember the most is how they handled the rain. When I say rain, I mean sheets of it. We drove to a little farm just outside of the city as it was sprinkling and by the time we were there it was an all out downpour. They braved the weather though, determined to get some great shots at the beautiful location. With the help of his best man I stayed under the shelter of my own umbrella and managed to squeeze in a few photos before the rain started to tear the umbrellas apart! They took the bad weather in stride and made the most of it; I think these are probably some of my favorite wedding photos that I’ve ever taken.

David and Myranda, thank you for letting me play a little part in your big day, it was truly an honor to get to know you and see your joy as you became one!

Lisa & Rob l Saskatoon Wedding Photography

Rob (aka Big Tuna) was so much fun to spend time with during the wedding. Every bit of his attention was on Lisa, from making sure she always had some water on hand (it was sooo hot that day) to helping her in and out of some of the poses we used. He’s an easy going guy and definitely took the time to just step back and enjoy this day that they had planned for so long. Speaking of planning, I’ve never met another groom who was so into the wedding plans! Come to think of it, I may have received more emails from Rob than I did from Lisa – very cool!

Lisa is one of those people who I love to work with because they have no idea how great they look in front of the camera. Just like everybody else (including me) she was a little nervous about spending the day with a photographer but you really couldn’t tell. Right from 9am when I met them at the salon (Rob really wanted some photos of her getting ready) she decided to just put her nerves behind her and enjoy the day! As the day went on it was so much fun to see her really relax and enjoy the whole process and by the end of the afternoon she was even suggesting some shots we could do!

Alissa & Vince l Saskatoon Wedding Photography

Alissa is one of the sweetest brides I’ve ever been lucky enough to work with. She really made me feel like a part of their day and gets bonus points for setting aside alot of time for photos! Her thank you toast at the end of the night was one of the most sincere that I’ve ever heard, she was truly grateful for what everyone had done for them on this special day.

Vince is someone that I wish I could get to know better. I’ve never heard so many people talk about the groom like I did on their special day. As I walked with the guests I heard stories about all of the sweet things that he does for Alissa and how he never takes her for granted. All day he led her everywhere by the hand, made sure her dress wasn’t getting dirty as we explored the Berry Barn grounds and let’s just say this is one couple who I didn’t have to ask to kiss too often!

Wyatt l Saskatoon Family Photography

Last summer I got together with Christina and Shawn to get some great family photos with little Michael. Now he’s a big brother and we headed to the park to get some updated family photos and capture little Wyatt enjoying an afternoon in the sunshine!
