I have never met two people who can make you feel so welcome, so much a part of their group. They invited me into their day and made sure I had a great time, which of course I did! Laura is one of the kindest brides I’ve ever met, there were a few hitches during the day but she took them all in stride and never let it change her attitude. I don’t know if there is a word for the opposite of bridezilla, but Laura would be one person who fits into that category!
I will always remember Mike because of fifteen words he said before the ceremony. The priest asked if Mike had any last minute requests before the service and all he said was:
“This is her day now, you do whatever you have to to make her happy.”

What a day!
I really don’t know where to start or how to write this post so I think I’m just going to say a bunch of thank you’s.
To all of Jana’s amazing bridesmaids, you were all a pleasure to work with and photograph. I’ll never forget the little round of applause that you gave me when I first walked in. It probably didn’t mean alot to you but it was a huge reminder of why I’m so lucky to do this. You’re an absolutely beautiful group of women who the lovely bride is very lucky to call friends.
To Norma and Keith, I’ve never had the pleasure of getting to know a family like I did yours during the wedding. Thank you for making me feel like a part of your family for those few short hours.
To Jana’s aunt Tanis and her friend Chelsea who are two of the most organized people I have ever met. Our photos went as smoothly as they did because of your help and I wish I could take you along to more of my weddings. The photo I have of your color coded day planner is one of my personal favorites!
Most of all of course, to Jana and Joel.
It is couples like you that photographers hope for. I’m trying to think of more eloquent words to use but the plain truth is – you were so much fun to work with!
Thank you for taking the time to put so much effort into your photos and for getting us into the theatre for some of the best shots I’ve ever had the pleasure of taking.

Dave is the kind of guy who asks his photographer to get up at 6am on a Saturday morning to come golfing with him and his friends. Luckily, his photographer is a morning person who couldn’t think of a better way to spend a beautiful morning getting some great shots of his last few hours as a single man. The one thing I’ll never forget about Dave is what he said after the guys commented on how cool Claire was for getting them the awesome fedora’s to wear while playing.
“Yeah,” he said. “Claire is the best.”
Claire is the kind of bride I dream about. Calm, cool, collected and so organized we actually had more time for photos than I knew what to do with! Claire looked so beautiful as she walked down the stairs in her dress for the first time and I knew that their photos were going to turn out this well. You couldn’t stop her from laughing the entire afternoon and her love for her friends, family and Dave most of all was so evident.
They got married at the Saskatoon Golf and Country Club and let me steal them away from their guests for some sunset photos on the course. You can see those in part two which will be up later this week or you can click right here to see the rest of their amazing photos from the big day in the slideshow!

Secrets and more secrets. I thought I was going to explode!
Myranda and David both had surprises planned for each other and I was lucky enough to be a part of both of them. The week before the wedding I was sneaking around for Myranda to get her gift all ready for him. I met with David in secret a few weeks earlier to help put together his surprise. His timing was a bit off and she started to get a bit suspicious so I got a quick email that night:
“You and I saw each other at Wal Mart tonight. We talked about the wedding and stuff.”
The next day I saw her and sure enough she brought it up.
“Oh yeah,” I nervously said. “We ran into each other at Wal Mart and just talked about the wedding and stuff.” I was terrified that she would ask what he was buying.
It all turned out though of course and no one was the wiser. Myranda’s gift went off without a hitch and David surprised her with a beautiful song at the end of the ceremony. His whole family got into the act and welcomed her into their family in a wonderful way.
The whole day was full of stories like this and each one showed what great people they really are. The one I’ll probably remember the most is how they handled the rain. When I say rain, I mean sheets of it. We drove to a little farm just outside of the city as it was sprinkling and by the time we were there it was an all out downpour. They braved the weather though, determined to get some great shots at the beautiful location. With the help of his best man I stayed under the shelter of my own umbrella and managed to squeeze in a few photos before the rain started to tear the umbrellas apart! They took the bad weather in stride and made the most of it; I think these are probably some of my favorite wedding photos that I’ve ever taken.
David and Myranda, thank you for letting me play a little part in your big day, it was truly an honor to get to know you and see your joy as you became one!
