jana and joel
February 18th, 2010
it was a frigid morning last month when I met with jana and joel but we still had such a great time. they laced up their skates and then headed out onto the ice and the session just when so smoothly from there. they’re one of those great couples that are just naturally comfortable in front of the camera and I rarely had to direct them, they just took over and made these beautiful photos.
to say that I’m excited about their big day this summer is a huge understatement and not just because of the locations they picked. the ceremony is at st. johns cathedral in downtown (where I’ve always wanted to shoot a wedding at so I can check that off the list thanks to them) and then they have a beautiful reception planned at the top of the inn at the sheraton.
I love couples with great taste.
besides that though, they are the type of couple that I love to capture. the whole session felt so genuine and honest and you could really sense the excitement and anticipation they have for their wedding.
jana and joel, it was my pleasure. thank you for making me absolutely love getting out of bed at 7 am on a sunday morning to come outside and take pictures.

I wanted to get a few shots with jana laughing so I asked joel to help me out. his world famous scarf twirl did the trick.

emily and ian have one of those great engagement stories. like any good story it involves a bit of deception on ian’s side to get emily to the right spot. when they got to the bridge ian popped the question and had a friend set off, from what I’m told, was quite an impressive fireworks show from the bridge.
nice.

I sort of felt like I knew rob and lisa allready.
they met on eharmony. becks and I met on eharmony.
turns out that rob works for a business in the city that our organic market has been doing business with since I was a kid.
one of rob’s friends plays for the wilkes-barre/scranton penguins, the farm team for my beloved stanley cup champions.
to top it all off, they are one of those genuinely nice couples that I have the pleasure of working with…

I can’t remember the last time I had this much fun. I can’t remember seeing two people so in love with their child.
actually, the world miracle is what they used.

I’m sitting here updating the blog and munching on some organic strawberries.
I just got back from a tux fitting for my best friends wedding this summer. I get to be best man and to say that I’m allready nervous about the speach would be an enormous understatement. but I get to watch my best pal marry the girl of his dreams (a mennonite no less!) and I cannot wait.
becky and I finally went to see avatar last night. we always laugh at each other because the first time we went to see a movie together we reached into the popcorn at the same time and we both laughed because we looked like one giant cliche. every time we go to see a movie now we make sure our hands touch in the popcorn at least once and we just smile.
I love her so much.
this weekend I get to photograph a beautiful little boy whose parents have been waiting years for him to arrive.
I am so lucky.
this last week I had the opportunity to finally sit down and spend some time with a hero of mine. sam graci is the formulator of greens+ and a world renowned nutrition expert. inspirational doesn’t even begin to describe sam. his energy seems to be endless and his warm and caring heart shines through. his only goal in life is to help people learn how the food they eat can offer them a long life filled with energy and health.
breakfast that morning was a quick protein shake and a bowl of organic strawberries along with my greens+ shake.

when we finally got to sit down over a lunch of mushroom tarragon soup and fresh eight grain bread at the earthbound bakery I was surprised that it wasn’t anything like I thought it would be. I thought he would dispense some profound nutrition advice that would radically alter my life. instead we talked like friends which is another gift he seems to have, making everyone around him feel welcome. we talked about our favorite spots in puerto vallarta and spent some time discussing the finer points of this years law and order episodes.

like I said, lucky.
