I love getting up early. Everything is just perfect at 6 a.m. The air is sweet with the dew from last nights rain, the entire city is quiet and the lineup at Starbucks is non existent. I decided it was time for an editing marathon so the blog is about to get very busy later this week, I can’t wait to share some of the amazing sessions from the last few weeks!

First up on the list today was a great session I had last night with Cassandra and her beautiful horses Sly and Lee. I’ve never actually had to Photoshop mosquitos out of my photos but if you’ve been outside at all in the past two weeks you’ll know how bad they’ve been.

They are, by the way, a hundred times worse on a horse farm!

Storms

Friday, June 4th, 2010

I’ve always loved storms. I remember as a kid I would get excited when I saw the dark clouds rolling in, sitting by the window waiting for the show.

Even now, as frustrating as rainy days are since I have to reschedule my sessions, I look forward to everything about the storm. The quick cool down in temperature. The way the wind feels different as it brings in the rain. The crack of thunder that seems to drown everything else out.

The peace that comes as the clouds move on.

Best laid plans

I had the perfect day lined up. My best pal was coming over in the afternoon to watch the Lost finale with me. He’s been a fan of the show since it started but I was converted just a few weeks ago when I needed something to watch while editing. I quickly got hooked but I couldn’t quite get through all six seasons by last weeks airing of the finale. Being the incredible friend he is he decided to watch it again and come over.

I had fresh boar tenderloin ready to go and a delicious fruit salsa to go with it. Dharma Initiative kernel corn on the side and a box of Macaroni & Cheese Supper just in case the boar didn’t turn out.

Since it rained all week I had to reschedule alot of shoots so I didn’t go out alot. I decided to take a vacation from shaving for the week. On Thursday Becks looked at me and said ” hey! that will be perfect for your Lost party!” I hadn’t even thought about it but it would be perfect.

Things didn’t work out though. My Grandpa isn’t well and so the day went differently than I had planned. Now it’s late and I’m munching on some beef and broccoli, praying for my Grandma and watching the finale.

How will the real world and the sideways world come together? Will Kate and Jack end up together? Will I ever unbend the pretzel that this show has turned my mind into? I’ve never really felt connected to characters like I did with the ones on the island. Sun and Jin were my favorites, it was such an amazing story to watch unfold.

So just like things will be resolved on the show, things will work out here in the real world to. I remember that life is still about as perfect as I could hope for. This week holds dinner with good friends, photographing a new life that has only been in the world for a week and capturing the love between two people whose wedding I’ll be shooting later this summer.

Tomorrow morning I’ll wake up and shower and shave this beard off, go downstairs and spread some Dharma Peanut Butter on some whole grain toast and get on with the day. Becky will sing off key in the shower. It will be perfect.

I hope your week goes the way you have planned.
