Lily & Tayo l Saskatoon Children’s Photography

Tuesday, September 14th, 2010

It’s high time there was a neice and nephew post around here, it’s been far too long!

My brother in law and his lovely wife came for a visit a few weekends ago and Becky and I went shopping the night before their arrival to pick out a few outfits. We decided to go for a little bit of a country look and I think it worked out well.

Lily is three now but I can still remember holding her when she was just a few hours old. Now she’s busy playing hide and seek, picking flowers and being adorable. Berries are her favorite thing in the world and woe to the aunt or uncle who forgets to bring a few pounds of blueberries home in anticipation of her arrival.

Tayo can brighten anyones day. I had a few shoots while they were here and I couldn’t wait to get home because I knew that little smile would be waiting for me. He’s happiest when he has all the attention in the room and loves to toss all his toys around the house instead of playing with them. Apparently he knows uncle Kevin is a little OCD and normally can’t stand a mess, I think he’s testing me. How can you get upset at a face like this though?

Check out all of their shots right here in the slideshow!

My Best Friends Wedding

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

My best friend got married earlier this summer. I always said that he should have been married before I was, he’s just that kind of guy. He is someone who has taught me more about faith and patience than anyone else I know and it was my honor to share in his joy on that beautiful Friday.

As best man I of course couldn’t do the photos and the night before I was talking to Becky about whether or not I should even bring my camera. Sometimes I’m so busy taking photos that I forget to actually enjoy the moment that I’m in. So I decided that since this was a once in a lifetime event for my friend and his beautiful new bride Heather (a fellow Mennonite no less!) I would leave the camera in the the bag.

I’m so glad I did because I got to be a part of a day filled with faith, family, laughter and some of the best people that I’ve ever had the pleasure of spending a few hours with. It was one of those special weddings that you don’t see alot of anymore, a day where the couples life truly begins as one when the pastor declares them to the congregation.

So these are the few pictures I did end up snapping. The first one is the result of months of planning the abilities of one very skilled hair stylist. Everyone knew that Donny’s hair would be epic for the big day and no one was disappointed. He’s the world’s biggest Superman fan and so between Christopher Reeve and Conan O’Brian the inspiration for the style was created.

Don and Heather, you have no idea how much I appreciated being a part of your wedding. It was a day that I will never forget.

Dave & Myranda – teaser l Saskatoon Wedding Photography

Saturday, July 3rd, 2010

Becky is at the theatre tonight watching some Vampire movie. Apparently, it’s a pretty big deal.

I just got home from David and Myranda’s wedding and even though I’m ready to hit the sack I just had to take a peek at their photos. My time after a wedding follows a pretty constant pattern that starts with getting into some far more comfortable clothes and making a small beverage for myself. Then I upload all the photos from the day and back them up. After that I finally get to have a look through them and see how they turned out, which shots surprised me and which ones I know I’ll want to try again.

It poured this afternoon but we still made it out to the farm for a few quick photos in the rain. As much as no one wants a rainy wedding day, these are some of the most beautiful photos that I’ve ever taken.

There are so many stories I want to share about this couple and their absolutely amazing wedding party. I don’t think I’ve ever had the pleasure of photographing a more helpful and gracious group of guys. Gentlemen is really the only way to describe David and his groomsmen.

Then there were the girls. I had no idea I was going to spend my Friday afternoon photographing six models. Seriously, they were so much fun!

Now if you’ll excuse me, a few episodes of The Office and a soft pillow are waiting for me. I think I’m going to watch the one with Recyclops…..because the best way to end such a great day is laughing as you fall asleep.
