The people I’m lucky enough to work with always amaze me. Stacey was in one of the weddings I captured last summer and I was so excited when she emailed me a few months ago and said that she and Brenen were expecting!
Despite having the usual new parent jitters, they took little Nolan to the beach and while mom and dad stayed on mosquito patrol I was able to get some beautiful shots of this new family. The little guy was more interested in getting some sleep than in having his photo taken so we got alot of yawning shots and one quick snap of his eyes.
They assure me he’s not always this cooperative at home!
“what if the tables were turned. what if you had to ask people that you wanted to photograph instead of them asking you to capture them? who would you want to photograph? what kinds of people do you like to have in front of the camera the most?”
it was an easy question to answer.
people like lana and dean and their four incredible kids.
I always think that if your photographer is having fun during your session then you’ll probably end up having a great time to. to say that this session was fun would be a complete understatement.
the kids, besides being so photogenic, were a blast to be around. they loved posing for the camera and after a few minutes they seemed like pros. the boys kept the smiles to a minimum, looking as tough as they could. the girls came up with all sorts of poses and couldn’t stop smiling for the camera. we spent the whole session just wandering around and having fun. it seemed like I just happened to remember to bring my camera along.
lana and dean, you are the kinds of parents that people strive to be. your love for God and for your children is inspiring. it’s a beautiful thing when someone truly takes the teachings that they profess to believe and live them out.
everyone can see that when they look at your family.

just as we were finishing up our session lana mentioned that while the afternoon was great, the kids had seemed just a little too quiet, a little too well behaved. maybe we could get some shots capturing them as they often really are…..

what could be better than stepping back and capturing a beautiful family laughing together….
