lana & dean
December 9th, 2009
somebody asked me the most interesting question the other day.
“what if the tables were turned. what if you had to ask people that you wanted to photograph instead of them asking you to capture them? who would you want to photograph? what kinds of people do you like to have in front of the camera the most?”
it was an easy question to answer.
people like lana and dean and their four incredible kids.
I always think that if your photographer is having fun during your session then you’ll probably end up having a great time to. to say that this session was fun would be a complete understatement.
the kids, besides being so photogenic, were a blast to be around. they loved posing for the camera and after a few minutes they seemed like pros. the boys kept the smiles to a minimum, looking as tough as they could. the girls came up with all sorts of poses and couldn’t stop smiling for the camera. we spent the whole session just wandering around and having fun. it seemed like I just happened to remember to bring my camera along.
lana and dean, you are the kinds of parents that people strive to be. your love for God and for your children is inspiring. it’s a beautiful thing when someone truly takes the teachings that they profess to believe and live them out.
everyone can see that when they look at your family.

just as we were finishing up our session lana mentioned that while the afternoon was great, the kids had seemed just a little too quiet, a little too well behaved. maybe we could get some shots capturing them as they often really are…..

I couldn’t help but laugh along with lisa and dean. kate had developed this little laugh just a few days before and we decided to take advantage of that. she would open her eyes really wide, open her mouth as far as she could and then giggle away.
what could be better than stepping back and capturing a beautiful family laughing together….

ashley & owen
December 9th, 2009
I was hoping we wouldn’t have a repeat of last years session with ashley and owen. josiah hadn’t arrived yet and they really wanted some maternity shots but we just didn’t get any warmer days last winter. so we headed out to the country on a frigid sunday afternoon and certainly made the best of it. the photos turned out great and that was thanks to them being so positive and real troopers in the middle of a prairie cold streak.
this year we managed to catch a break and got together on a perfect autumn weekend. josiah’s big brother was a little camera shy this time around but it was still wonderful to just watch these proud parents enjoy helping their little one explore his first autumn season…..

janine & james
November 22nd, 2009
this beautiful family braved the cold weather so that they could still get some fall photos before the snow starts to fly. we met at janine’s parents home just outside of the city and it couldn’t have been a more perfect backdrop. They have several acres of cherry and plum trees, endless rows of sunflowers and rose bushes and a perfectly maintained yard. they were kind enough to offer their property for photos in the summer and I can’t wait to go back and enjoy their acreage when it’s in full bloom!

camille & clark
November 22nd, 2009
camille and clark would be considered heroes to the average canadian.
did they win an olympic gold medal? no.
did they find a cure for a disease? no.
they own a tim horton’s.
so while they are the envy of most people in our great country because of that, I had to admire what wonderful parents they are. their little guy took a bit of a spill and hurt his leg so he was a little scared to walk around and explore which is what I normally let kids do so I can capture them at their most natural. they poured all their energy into making sure that he could still have as much fun as possible and give mom and dad some beautiful pictures to boot!
they cuddled, they tickled, they made him laugh as only parents can.
