This was my first ever camping engagement session and it was so much fun! They know the area so they just led me around to a few beautiful spots and it was a great change of pace to just let a couple enjoy part of their vacation in front of the camera.

We ended the night with a little idea I had been thinking about for a while and they were game for it. I think their neighbors were wondering who this crazy guy wrapping the couple up in Christmas lights in the middle of June was!

I can’t remember the last time I laughed this hard during a shoot.

Come to think of it, I can’t remember the last time I laughed this heard, period!

Laura and Mike got out of their car looking like a million bucks and I knew I was in for a treat. “You’re going to have a hard time with us,” laughed Laura. “Being serious is not exactly our strong suit!”

It usually took five takes to get a serious shot in between the jokes and laughs but I can’t believe the variety we got. Looking at their photos I realize just how little I had to do to end up with these amazing shots, they were absolute naturals in front of the camera and I cannot wait until their wedding later this month!!

Sometimes I look at the problems I have while doing my job and laugh.

Like during Stephanie and Stephen’s engagement shoot our biggest problem was trying to get a shot of Stephanie not giggling!

After they shared an ice cream sundae we drove to the theatre and they munched on a bag of popcorn as we walked around downtown. I felt bad, they were each going to need to jog a few miles that night just to work off the calories from having their photos taken!

We ended the night at a spot that was special to them and then got some great romantic shots nearby by a building that she had spotted a few days before. I love it when couples really get involved in their shoots and make sure that the photos end up being exactly what they were hoping for!
