claire & dave - preview

February 21st, 2010

I save alot of the kind emails I get from the people I’m lucky enough to photograph. whenever I need a little boost I read through them to remind me what a blessing it is to be able to make someone happy because of some pictures I took for them. I wish I could save some of the things people say after our sessions are done though. as we were walking back to our cars claire and dave mentioned that they had alot of fun during our time together and this was a bit of a surprise for them because claire was nervous about the session. who knew that having your picture taken could actually be such a great way to spend a morning!

they of course had nothing to be nervous about. I’m having alot of trouble deciding which shots will make the cut and which will stay behind…..they made them all look so great! here is one of my favorites so far….

jana and joel

February 18th, 2010

it was a frigid morning last month when I met with jana and joel but we still had such a great time. they laced up their skates and then headed out onto the ice and the session just when so smoothly from there. they’re one of those great couples that are just naturally comfortable in front of the camera and I rarely had to direct them, they just took over and made these beautiful photos.

to say that I’m excited about their big day this summer is a huge understatement and not just because of the locations they picked. the ceremony is at st. johns cathedral in downtown (where I’ve always wanted to shoot a wedding at so I can check that off the list thanks to them) and then they have a beautiful reception planned at the top of the inn at the sheraton.

I love couples with great taste.

besides that though, they are the type of couple that I love to capture. the whole session felt so genuine and honest and you could really sense the excitement and anticipation they have for their wedding.

jana and joel, it was my pleasure. thank you for making me absolutely love getting out of bed at 7 am on a sunday morning to come outside and take pictures.

I wanted to get a few shots with jana laughing so I asked joel to help me out. his world famous scarf twirl did the trick.

emily & ian - preview

February 16th, 2010

emily and ian have one of those great engagement stories. like any good story it involves a bit of deception on ian’s side to get emily to the right spot. when they got to the bridge ian popped the question and had a friend set off, from what I’m told, was quite an impressive fireworks show from the bridge.

nice.

rob & lisa - preview

February 16th, 2010

I sort of felt like I knew rob and lisa allready.

they met on eharmony. becks and I met on eharmony.

turns out that rob works for a business in the city that our organic market has been doing business with since I was a kid.

one of rob’s friends plays for the wilkes-barre/scranton penguins, the farm team for my beloved stanley cup champions.

to top it all off, they are one of those genuinely nice couples that I have the pleasure of working with…

jana & joel - preview

January 24th, 2010

it’s sunday afternoon and I just rolled out of bed. we’ve had a blizzard and our house is completely snowed in so of course I’m editing and catching up on season 2 of friday night lights. becky is away in edmonton with some friends which means she’ll be bringing back a plate of braised beef tortellini from olive garden for me.

life is good.

check that. life is great.

on top of all that I had a wonderful problem to deal with. I knew I was going to be posting jana and joel’s preview but I didn’t realize it was going to be so hard to just find two of my favorites. so as usual, I’ll have to break a cardinal rule of photography and post more pictures than I should in a preview.

I don’t know what it is about some couples…..after a few years of doing this I still can’t put my finger on it. watching them gliding around the rink reminded me of why I started doing this. their big smiles, the quick kisses, stopping every now and again to help warm each others fingers up.

it was beautiful.
