Godspell is an old spelling of the word gospel and on august 19th I had the privelage of watching a group from emmanuel baptist church here in saskatoon put their own spin on the good news. it’s a musical that opened off broadway in 1971 and has played in numerous touring companies and revivals.

I wish I had gone two nights, one to photograph and another so I could just sit back and enjoy this incredible performance. i’ve never had the opportunity to see another group put on the musical but I have little doubt that I would never find a different group who put the same emotion and passion into the story as this one did that night.

the rain finally stayed away and it was a perfect evening at the river landing ampitheatre. the story was told from the perspective of st. matthew and besides the humor and wonderful singing, it was a good reminder of how we should remember to live our lives.
